REMSA has been monitoring and responding to the influenza A (H1N1) (Swine Flu) pandemic since the outbreak was identified. REMSA has implementeda procedures to screen 911 callers for symptoms that are indicative of an influenza A (H1N1) flu infection. REMSA Communications is once again screening callers for any special symptoms. REMSA in conjunction with the Washoe County Health District, is continuing to monitor influenza A (H1N1) flu cases utilizing our FirstWatch® monitoring system.

If you are unable to find the information you need about the influenza A (H1N1) virus at the CDC or World Health Organization websites, the Washoe County District Health Department has a special phone center staffed by bilingual public health professionals to answer general questions about the influenze A (H1N)1 virus:

  • Hours: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Please be patient when calling this number, as the volume of calls can be large at times.
