REMSA PARAMEDIC RECEIVES STATEWIDE EMT GOLD MEDAL AWARD

December 31, 2002 – REMSA (Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority) paramedic, Brian Taylorwas recently honored as the statewide EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) Gold Medal Award recipient from the Veterans of Foreign Wars. To receive this honor, the candidate must exemplify strong leadership characteristics not just in their Emergency Medical Service (EMS) work but must serve and contribute to their community.

“Brian truly embodies all of the characteristics of a Gold Medal Award winner,” said Don Vonarx, Director of Advanced Life Support Operations.“For nearly 20 years, Brian has consistently performed and demonstrated the highest level of paramedic performance in any given crisis or situation and in all that he does. Brian’s outstanding character, dedication, knowledge and skills have made Washoe County a better community to live in.”

In 1983, Brian began his career in the Washoe County EMS community as a paramedic and then started working for REMSA in 1986. Brian currently serves as Operations Manager for REMSA. Since his start as a paramedic, he continually has proven himself to be an outstanding role model and mentor for all who work with him. Brian has acted as a role model and mentor in every situation he is involved in and continually seeks ways to improve the EMS community as a whole.

Brian’s compassion and medical expertise has made the difference to thousands of patients, who during their time of crisis were fortunate to be served by such a caring professional. Brian is highly admired by his peers at REMSA and by many community organizations such as area hospitals, fire departments and police departments who work side by side with Brian on a daily basis. As a devoted husband and father of three he actively participates in his children’s activities and plays a major role in his church.
