August 11, 2002 - An isolated fire occurred at 3:48 a.m. on Sunday, August 11 on the sixth floor of the Comstock Hotel Casino located at 200 West Second Street. REMSA was dispatched and sent three units and three tactical medics to the scene. Approximately 200 occupants were evacuated from the high rise. Two firefighters extricated a female occupant, in cardiac arrest, down the stairs of the high rise. REMSA treated the firefighters on the scene for heat related injuries and provided advanced life support and transported the female to Saint Marys Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
