May 20, 2002 - Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority (REMSA) has donated 450 first aide kits throughout Washoe County to all area little league teams. The kits contain medical necessities including Band-aids, gauze, sterile wipes, and ointment. These items are used to treat minor cuts, scrapes, and other injuries. The leagues participating in REMSAs first aide kit give-away are Reno American, Reno Continental, Reno National, Washoe Little League, Valley Providence, Sparks Little League, and the Challengers. More than 100 teams will benefit from the kits as they begin season practices this month. Kids are likely to incur some minor scrapes, cuts, and bruises during the season, said Mitch Nowicki, REMSA paramedic. The donated kits will teach the kids how to care for their own injuries and give the parents a sense of comfort that the child can and will be taken care of immediately in the event of an injury on or off the field. REMSA is a private, non-profit organization that provides the region with Advanced Life Support Paramedic ambulance services, the Care Flight emergency helicopter program, and emergency medical dispatch services. Additionally, REMSA provides excellent patient care with no taxpayer support or other subsidies. To learn more about REMSA and its programs, call Mitch Nowicki at 775.858.5700. |
