January 15, 2002 – The Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority (REMSA) and Washoe County Sheriff’s Office honored an outstanding local hero, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Deputy, Tracey Bloom. He was honored for a recent lifesaving action while off duty when he pulled a trapped handicapped woman from her burning vehicle on I-80 east of Reno to safety on Saturday, January 5. Deputy Bloom is the first recipient of the REMSA Life Saver Award. This award was created to recognize those individuals within our community who provide first response and life saving action.REMSA is a private, non-profit organization providing the region with advanced life support paramedic ambulance services, the Care Flight emergency medical helicopter program and accredited emergency medical dispatch services. REMSA provides guaranteed response times and high quality patient care with no taxpayer support or other subsidies. |
