As you know, medical emergencies can occur at any time. Aid is often delayed if a patient is non-responsive or a poor historian. We have developed a new outreach program to assist your clients in these situations. The Mini Medi-File is here! REMSA is partnering with the City of Reno Senior Services, Washoe County Senior Center, the State of Nevada Division for Aging Services and the Sanford Center for Aging. Our initial target group is senior citizens in Washoe County and rural northern Nevada, nearly 40,000 and growing. As such, our first printing is 40,000 cards, vinyl covers and window clings, which gives each partner 10,000 to distribute. We have also partnered with the Northern Nevada Immunization Coalition for distribution during flu clinics. The key components of the Mini Medi-File that the partners feel will help make this program a success include:
The project’s focus of one-on-one distribution to clients is crucial to success. We are working with community agencies that do actual home visits and have staff that can sit down with a patient to ensure the information is completed and put in a wallet or purse. However the card inserts and directons are available to download on this website. The Mini Medi-File is useful to everyone, though, and everyone should consider using one especially for medically fragile children, and adults with allergies, mental illness, or multiple medical needs. Staff is available to present to your group or assist you with your Mini Medi-File. Contact Melissa Krall at 858-5700, ext. 151.
