With the warm summer months arriving across the country, homes are turning off their heaters and opening windows to get the fresh, warm air. Although opening a window sounds like a harmless act, it is this innocent action that claims the lives of many young children every year. Children curiosity is drawn to open window leading falls out of the window and injury or death. Here are some tips on how to keep your family safe during hot summer months:

  • Windows shouldn’t be kept open all the way.
  • Screens are eant to keep insects out, NOT children in.
  • Typical falls result in brain / neck injuries as children often fall head-first.
  • Window guards/locks are can be used for optimal safety.
  • Supervision of children around open windows is critical.
